Retailer Take Back
If you are having your mattress delivered, California law requires your retailer to offer to take back your old mattress at no additional cost. A few things to know:
- Delivery or set up fees for the products being delivered may still apply.
- The retailer has up to 30 days to take back your old mattress.
- The retailer may refuse to pick up the old mattress if it poses a health or safety risk.
If you believe your retailer is not complying with this law, please let us know.

Curbside Pick Up
Some local governments may provide a free bulky item pickup. Find out if you live in an area with this benefit. Those that recycle mattresses with MRC’s Bye Bye Mattress are noted.
Drop It Off
Drop off your old mattress at no additional cost at participating locations. Then your mattress can be recycled into hundreds of new products.

We work with mattress retailers, hotels, hospitals, universities, military bases and more! We’re experienced working with contracted service providers too.
Drop It Off
Drop off units at no cost at participating locations. Unit limits may apply and an
appointment may be required. Contact the desired location for more details.
Pick Up
If you have at least 100 mattresses, you can arrange for a pickup with our Commercial Volume Program.
For retailers that are accumulating at least 100 mattresses monthly, we can provide a collection container with scheduled, recurring pickups.
